This study of recharge mechanisms to the Memphis aquifer in Shelby County, Tennessee, sought to develop better tools to enhance MLGaW's capabilities in managing water resources of the Memphis aquifer and improve sourcewater protection. The specific objective of the study was to develop a better understanding of the magnitude and impact of recharge through windows in the upper Claiborne confining layer. The study was successful in describing in more detail the flow behavior and unique age distribution characterization at this shallow aquifer. The combined tools used to study the window site have resulted in a new proposed hydrostratigraphic conceptual model for the site explaining the most probable genesis of the window as well as groundwater flow patterns in and around the window. Includes CD.The field data collection was performed using a combination of Solinst Inc. LeveloggerAr and In-Situ Inc. miniTROLLAr ... of the wells that may interfere with future environmental-tracer analyses, so a 10-foot-long section of Schedule 40 PVC pipe was ... and the Cooper-Jacob straight-line (Cooper and Jacob, 1946) and Step- Drawdown methods (Halford and Kuniansky, 2002) for single-well pumping tests.
